Forty eight years ago in June, 1974, a month long crusade was held. A tent and 250 chairs were acquired and a tent was pitched next to the market. It was an evangelistic effort by Northeastern Region of the Christian Brethren Assemblies of Jamaica.
Three baptisms after, Ocho Rios Gospel Chapel was born. Pastor Joseph Prendergast shepherded the church until December, 2015 when he died. His wife, Dr. Claudette Prendergast now leads the flock along with Elder Owen Whittaker and 6 Deacons.
